Florida Schools Flee Troubled Bond Market

The auction rate bond market is under new scrutiny after $330 billion market's recent breakdown cost issuers thousands of dollars in extra interest costs. Among the people pulling out of the market is California and the port authority of New York and New Jersey. Others who are refinancing are Florida schools and a medical center in Washington State.

Current Event-GM offers buyout

GM has posted a better fourth quarter financial result than expected but they are still offering buyouts to 74,000 employees (its entire U.S. hourly workforce). GM has said that they will offer buyout packages up to worth 140,000 to all of its workers represented by the UAW.
